HUD - Head-up-display. A transparent display on which data is projected without urging the user to change their viewpoint. They were originally invented for military aircrafts, but today there even exist first versions for civil cars. HUDs are commonly used in games to supply the player with all needed information he needs for the navigation through the environment and accomplishing their task.
