Talk:RTT

?

It would be really nice if someone would explain how this is done.

RTT and R2T

Since there is already a "RTT" computer games abbreviation (In computer games, RTT means ¨"real-time tactics", a computer games genre), and the word "to" is generally abbreviated as "2", I moved the RTT (render-to-texture) article to R2T. I have redirected the original. Mikademus 15:19, 10 August 2008 (BST)

Against it!

I'm personally against the version "R2T", mainly because "RTT" is the wider used version in this context (both on the forum as well as on the net in general).

Community decided!

The community has decided to use the spelling "RTT": http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=43900

That was rather fast and arbitrary. Google "RTT" and you'll find a single reference to texture rendering techniques on the first page at the very button, just above the OGRE forum post about whether to spell it RTT or R2T. Thus, there isn't really another "general context" of usage, as was referred to in the (now locked) forum post above. Now, I don't really care whichever way you spell it here but it is generally good to use distinctive and unique acronyms. RTT already have a number of meanings (some other examples are "real time technology", "Ramified Theory of Types" in mathematics and "Rett Syndrome" in psychiatry). Put it like this
if you were to make a "Render Translucent Spheres" technology (whatever that might be), would it be smart to abbreviate it "RTS"? Btw, making a forum post asking for feedback is a nice way of responding to name changes etc, only wish the thread would have been open a while longer, still a good exchange.
